Deutsche Telekom considers UK market exit - report

(Telecompaper) Deutsche Telekom is assessing its options for exiting the UK market, reports Bloomberg citing unnamed sources with knowledge of the matter. The sources said that it was in the early stages of deciding whether to sell its stake in UK mobile network group Everything Everywhere. They added that any decision is unlikely to be made before later in 2012 as Deutsche Telekom focuses on improving its operational performance. The sources said that options being considered include partner France Telecom buying out its stake, or a process to find a third party buyer for the whole group, adding that France Telecom could find it difficult to secure finance to take full control of the JV. Deutsche Telekom spokesperson Andreas Fuchs declined to comment on the report, only saying that it had a long-term commitment to the UK market.
